New LASIK Procedure Removes The Knife
LASIK itself is finally going all-laser. Despite the aura of new technology surrounding the procedure, most surgeons actually use a tiny handheld blade to create an opening in the cornea and then use a laser to reform the underlying tissue. Now, an innovative laser technology called IntraLase is giving surgeons a new kind of edge.
The IntraLase LASIK procedure — now performed by local Indianopolis surgeons at Price Vision Group and TLC Laser Eye Centers — opens the door to better eyesight for many patients who previously weren’t candidates for LASIK because of thin corneas. The laser-controlled surgery produces clean, high-precision cuts in the cornea that offer superior reliability and fewer complications.
