Laser Eye Surgery Excluded In Dutch Health Care
Private insurance for medical care is coming ever more into play among the international community as politicians seek to control runaway health budgets.
Holland is the latest country to require foreign nationals, whether working in the country or simply resident, to have valid cover. People from other EU states are exempt as they are covered through Europe-wide reciprocity treaties.
The change is part of a radical shake-up of healthcare, affecting both individuals and employers in the Netherlands. Everyone aged over 18, irrespective of medical history and age, must pay an annual premium of around €1,100.
