Hall Focuses On New Season After Laser Eye Surgery
Australain Football League: BARRY Hall will road test his new eyes for the first time in game conditions when Sydney takes the field against Essendon in their NAB Challenge game at Optus Oval tomorrow.
The premiership captain had corrective eye surgery performed in early December to fix fuzzy vision that impacted on Hall's ability to catch the ball.
Hall has already noticed a significant improvement in his vision since the operation particularly when driving, however, he was a little apprehensive about the different it will make when playing.
"(The doctors) said it will take a bit of time to get used to judging the footy again so we'll see how it goes," Hall said. "I can read the road signs a hell of a lot better."
Hall exclusively revealed late last year that he couldn't actually see the football when it was at the other end of the ground, and that he had trouble judging the ball's flight.
"It would be on me quicker than what I thought it would so I'd be snatching at the footy all the time," Hall said. "It was definitely worse at night."
Hall, 29, unsuccessfully tried wearing contact lenses after an eye test last April identified a sight problem, so he simply put with not being able to see properly.
Despite his poor vision, the Swans' menacing centre half-forward led the AFL in contested marks, and kicked more goals and set up more scoring opportunities than anyone else.
